CLEARLY, this is not the case.
Unfortunately for you, I am not Levni Yilmaz or Matthew Inman. Contrary to popular belief, I don't draw at every given chance. In fact, I get really frustrated with my drawings ALL THE TIME. So put on the added pressure of trying to please an audience then my frustration levels get really high.
(this doesn't count as an illustration. I JUST made it on GIMP)
SEE? You guys stress me out. Why? Because everyone is expecting me to be great at it, THAT'S WHY. I NEVER should have started a blog if no one is going to read it. At least the people who order graphics from me use and appreciate the stuff I make for them.
Nah, I'm kidding. Although I do take my fair share of absences from the blog, I keep coming back, don't I? This is just the starting place of my awesomeness until I become a YouTube star (XP). In the meantime, I should probably get a tumblr.... You know, just for the reblogs and stuff XD
So anyway, I have no idea what this post is about. I was thinking of doing a review of The Art of Getting By, which came out on the 17th, but I KNOW it would have gone like this:
O. M. G. Freddie Highmore is SOOOOOOO freaking hot!! He got TALL as HELL. He's so amazing! I LOVE HIM SOOOOO MUCH!!!!
When in reality, a review for the movie should be more like this:
The Art of Getting By had nothing in particular to give to the theatrical world. Of all the coming-of-age movies thrown askew in the battlefield of theatre and reviews, Weisen's debut movie is just another cliche to throw in the junkyard. The plot was excruciatingly bland and was only partly salvaged by performances done by Freddie Highmore (August Rush, Finding Neverland) and Emma Roberts (It's Kind of a Funny Story, Hotel for Dogs). By the end of the movie, the audience will have known close to nothing about the two main characters of George (Highmore) and Sally (Roberts).
It wasn't a bad movie, really, but after pondering the direction and the story once I got over my Highmore High, I realized it wasn't entirely good either. Although I wouldn't go as far as the harsh critics out there. I mean, it IS an indie film that was put up for competition at Sundance. And it IS Gavin Weisen's debut movie. You really have to forgive his lack of directing experience.
The one thing I can give Getting By credit for is its lack of Hollywood glamour. Nothing sugarcoated and not too entirely focused on the romance at all. In fact, the romantic aspect of the movie is more of an afterthought. Though more people would focus on the romance, the real story is how George comes out of his shell and comes to grips with the bitter reality of life being more than just a one-man show.
Which, if you think about it, is a cliche in and of itself.
But you know, it still had that witty aspect of most indie movies. There was still a little bit of life and humour thrown here and there. My favourite line?
"I fear life." - George
Though it wasn't the best movie around, I'm still going to watch it again. Just for Freddie :3
Anyway, blogblogblogblogblog.
No really, what the hell is this blog about? My life? As far as I'm concerned, my life is:
School.
Computer (Graphic order).
Eat.
Nap.
TV.
Internet trolling.
Sleep.
Yup, still going to school. Summer gym for next year and whatnot. But Thursday was my last day of gym! YAY~! ... But then I have health class in two weeks Dx
But you know what? Gym wasn't all bad. It was definitely better than just sitting around in my room avoiding the sun. I actually got to see people instead of avoiding all human contact for three months. And my sister wouldn't have to harp on me all the time about getting active. So... I guess there was some good out of this class.
Anyway (I feel like I say that too much. Seriously, how many points do my blog posts have to have?), according to twitter and this article, same-sex marriage is now legalized in New York after senators passed a bill 33 to 29.
Okay, first of all I would like to point out that this happened an HOUR ago from when I am now writing. Seriously. Scott Westerfeld has been tweeting about it and the time stamp says about an hour ago. Need proof? Fine then. Here.
But the point is how in the hell do they have a professional article up with pictures and stuff already? It seems almost impossible. The power of the internet, I suppose. People are just ON TOP of things.
Second of all, I don't understand why gay marriage has to be such a controversy. I mean, why does it matter if two people of the same gender want to get married? Why do you have to legalize it? Marriage is about love and two souls intertwining their lives together, not about freaking legal papers. Don't American citizens have the right to the pursuit of happiness? Well then how come gay Americans don't have that right everywhere? Let them be married. It's not like anything bad is going to happen. People are just going to get married. To deny people that right to be with the one they love is like denying a child their favourite ice cream cone. It's like looking at Puss in Boots' eyes and not feeling ANYTHING.
Look at that! Look at it!
How can people NOT feel anything? Are they that HEARTLESS?
The answer is yes. Yes they are.
They're also fucked up. I saw something on Kat's tumblr awhile ago about gay marriage versus marrying first cousins. Wait, let me find it...
That's pretty fucking sick, dude.
I mean seriously. Marrying within the family is known to do things to your fucking head man. Mental issues and deformities RAMPANT. Gay marriage? What does it do? NOTHING. They can't even have kids without a sperm/egg donor so it's not like it's a major risk or anything!
I'm personally disappointed to be in a state that allows first cousins to marry and yet restricts gay partners to do the same.
Jeebuz. Get your shit together, America. Let's colour the entire fucking country a RAINBOW. Spread the love, man, like Nutella on bread.
